The Civil Engineering Degree Program at UCleveland focuses on interactions between human activities and the natural environment. Our mission is to use science, engineering, and policy to improve quality of life through intelligent use of natural resources such as the raw materials, energy, and ecosystems needed to sustain modern society. The program at UCleveland also includes the design of functional and environmentally compatible facilities and infrastructure.
Within this broad context, the Department of Civil Engineering is especially concerned with understanding of natural cycles, systems, and processes relevant to human activities, as well as the use of natural analogs to help design new materials, industrial processes, and infrastructure systems. Other strong priorities of our program and our students include the development of new building and transportation technologies, advances in information infrastructure and logistics and the creation of attractive and sustainable physical environments.
